The U.S. Constitution

The constitution established a basic form of laws for the country. It created three branches of government; legislative, executive and judicial.

The legislative branch makes law, declares war, impeaches and approves judges.

The executive branch can veto bills, carry out laws and sign bills into law.

The judicial branch upholds the laws and settles disputes about the law, says that laws are unconstitutional and the judges serve for life.

The three branches have a check and balance system that keep them from having too much power.
